at least i showed up

I’ve been talking yoga up to myself for the past month coming up with every excuse in the book as to why I can’t start going again –

1-The classes aren’t at a convenient time (false).
2-I don’t have a car (true, but the studio I’ve been eying is a 10 minute walk away).
3-I won’t remember any of the poses (possibly true, but there’s no less than 4 beginner classes).
4-I’m lazy (generally false but at times like these it feels SO true and, as per yesterday’s post, sometimes accurate).
5-I just can’t find the time (the most accurate of them all, but if I can find the time to sit here and write this followed by the greedy consumption of last night’s leftovers and my inevitable giving in to finally beginning the Hunger Games, I can find time to do a freakin’ sun salutation).

SO I decided, tonight is the night!  I’ve been stressed out, have a ton going on – this will be good for me.  I finally gussied myself up (in yoga speak that means I put on something spandex and blew the dust off my mat) and hurried down the street to the studio.  Yah, I wasn’t kidding when I said it was convenient- it is literally on the same street.  Oops.

I’m not going to bury the lead here: no one else showed up for the class (other than the instructor). So.  Here I am.  15 minutes later. Back home. Alas, all is not lost.  At least I showed up.  Showing up is 3/4ths of the battle so I’m confident it will happen again.

The mat’s back under the bed and I’ll admit that I’m already in my pajamas, but I’m hopeful I can find the strength I found today to pull it back out again next week.  And, heck: if not, I’ll still give myself credit for showing up.
